To that end, each organization has established scholarships designed to bring educational opportunities to deserving students. Here's a brief description of a few scholarship opportunities that will be available in 2009.
Price Chopper's Golub Foundation has established 9 different scholarships, ranging in value from $2,000 to $8,000.
Price Chopper's Golub Foundation Scholarship Awards
The Founder's Scholarships $8,000 In memory of Bernard and William Golub, who together pioneered one of the first supermarket chains, Central Markets, which later became Price Chopper Supermarkets. To be awarded over four years to two graduating high school seniors, entering the first year of college, who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and scholastic abilities.
The Tillie Golub-Schwartz
Memorial Scholarship for Minorities $8,000 In memory of Tille Golub-Schwartz, mother of Bernard and William Golub, whose life was dedicated to humanitarian concerns. To be awarded over four years to a graduating high school senior, entering the first year of college, who has shown a commitment to humanity through demonstrated activities in school, community or religious organizations.
The Lotte Meers Memorial Scholarship for Educators $8,000 In memory of Lotte Meers, a training and communication specialist for 25 years for Price Chopper Supermarkets, whose life was dedicated to the education of others. To be awarded over four years to a graduating high school senior, entering the first year of college, who has demonstrated scholastic ability and has chosen to enter the field of education.
The Charles Pierce Memorial Scholarship $8,000 In memory of Charlie Pierce, a member of the Grocery Manufacturers' Representatives and an innovative pioneer in food distribution who was helpful in the early development of the Price Chopper chain. To be awarded over four years to a graduating high school senior, entering the first year of college, who has demonstrated scholastic ability. Additional eligibility restrictions apply.
The Computer Studies Scholarship $8,000 To be awarded over 4 years to a graduating high school senior, entering the first year of college, who has demonstrated scholastic ability and has chosen to enter the Computer Sciences, Computer Information Systems, Electronic Arts or Graphic Design field. Additional eligibility restrictions apply.
The Junior College Transfer Scholarship $4,000 To be awarded over 2 years to a graduating community/junior college student or community/junior college graduate who has demonstrated scholastic ability and plans to attend an accredited four year college or university as a fully matriculated third year student. Additional eligibility restrictions apply.
The Graduate or Professional School Scholarship $4,000 To be awarded over 2 years to a graduating college senior, or college graduate. The applicant must have demonstrated scholastic ability and must plan to attend graduate school as a fully matriculated first-year student. Additional eligibility restrictions apply.
The Two Year Scholarship $2,000 To be awarded over 2 years to a graduating high school senior, entering the first year at a degree-granting community or junior college.. Additional eligibility restrictions apply.
The Two Year Health Care Scholarship $2,000 To be awarded over 2 years to a graduating high school senior, entering the first year at a degree-granting community or junior college in the health care field. Additional eligibility restrictions apply.

Price Chopper Minority Scholarship Awards $2,000 Price Chopper has established 12 different scholarships of $2,000 each to aid our associates in realizing their educational potential and dreams.
Price Chopper Associate Scholarship Program Price Chopper funds more than $1 million in scholarships for part-time Associates who are high school juniors at least 16 years old wishing to further their education at a degree-granting college or university.
Price Chopper/HVCC Associate's Degree Program Price Chopper and Hudson Valley Community College have teamed together to create a Business Administration with Supermarket Applications Associate's degree program with a certificate in Supermarket Management and Operations. There is a scholarship available to part time associates that will assist with tuition for the two year degree in exchange for a two year full time work commitment.
