Help us help animals in need

You can help Price Chopper raise money for animals in need! During the month of September, for every new Facebook fan we receive, Price Chopper and our partners at Milk-Bone, Kibbles n' Bits, 9 Lives and Nestle Purina will donate $1 to the ASPCA - up to $3,500! Help Price Chopper Provide Service Animals to Those in Need

In order to give back to our communities, Price Chopper is partnering with Milk-Bone to donate a Canine Assistants service dog to a person in need, for the second time this year. This month, Laura Jean Westover of Massena, NY will celebrate her 40th birthday...and receive the gift of a Canine Assistant to help her remain independent as she copes with effects of Cerebral Palsy.

Laura was diagnosed with the disease at birth and struggles with muscular weakness, lack of balance and coordination, spasticity and chronic pain associated with her condition. She wears a leg brace and uses a cane or crutches to help with her with balance and mobility.

A Canine Assistant - a dog that is specifically trained to help people with special needs - will make a world of difference to Laura. She feels a Canine Assistant will contribute to her independence and would help her maintain balance and stability. Her Canine Assistant will also retrieve dropped items, open and close doors, press elevator buttons, assist if she falls and offer her constant companionship. For Laura, a dog would help give her the confidence to venture out into the world and participate in the things she loves.

Join us for the 18th Annual Fireplug 500 Walk for Animals

Price Chopper is partnering with Iams to sponsor the Fireplug 500 Walk for Animals, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 11, in Central Park, Schenectady. We all want to live in a place that's as safe for our pets as it is for our family and friends. By participating in the Fireplug 500, you'll help to improve the lives of unwanted pets and the quality of life in our community. Your support will provide care for unwanted and injured pets; reduce pet overpopulation through spay/neuter programs; assist pet owners in crisis, including victims of domestic violence; and help nurture compassion and responsibility through humane education.
