A Greener Office Complex
Price Chopper is building a new, state of the art Main Office complex in downtown Schenectady, NY, that will incorporate environmental elements and practices such as using recycled materials wherever possible (e.g. carpeting, steel, etc.); daylight harvesting (the locating of offices on the interior of the building and work stations around the natural-light bearing perimeter of each floor); raised flooring throughout the building to allow for more efficient installation of electrical and HVAC components; energy management controls that adapt to changing environment during the work day; rainwater harvesting for irrigation; fuel cell to supplement power from the grid; and photovoltaics (solar power). The 6-story, 240,000 sq. ft. building will be LEED-certified.
