An A in Gym for an A in Math?
If you think you child's gym class is taking away from study time, think again. New research indicates that daily, vigorous exercise can improve overweight kids' thinking in just three months, while also lowering diabetes risk, reducing body fat and strengthening bones, according to a team of researchers led by Dr. Catherine Davis, a clinical health psychologist at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Researchers looked at about 200 overweight, inactive children 7 to 11. In the two-thirds of children who participated in daily vigorous exercise, decision-making skills improved.
