Price Chopper looks at differences as opportunities for growth and is committed to providing teammates with a challenging, culturally diverse, friendly, participative and rewarding environment. To deliver on that commitment, we provide diversity training along with many other programs that foster an inclusive work environment. We are now forming Affinity Groups that will bring individuals from like-backgrounds together to recommend even more ideas on how we can "grow" together.
For Different Folks
We think that if everyone thought, felt and looked the same, the world would be a boring place. What makes environments rich and interesting is that they are made up of unique individuals with their own personalities, perspectives, values, traditions, and dreams. So rather than look at differences as a challenge, we honestly look at them as a competitive advantage. If we didn't hire to ensure that our company population mirrored the populations in the areas we serve, we would inevitably miss out on something that could make us better, stronger and more able to provide for our customers.
Our commitment to giving every opinion a voice and every person an opportunity to succeed began with our founding leaders, Ben and Bill Golub. These actions continue to stand the test of time and are embedded in our corporate culture. It differentiates us from other employers in our marketing areas.
We welcome your differences, opinions, traditions, values, perspectives and dreams. We challenge you to teach us something that we don't know, to tell us something that we haven't heard and to give something of yourself to our already rich culture.

Ben Golub, and a group of business and community leaders founded the Human Rights Commission of Schenectady County. Ben served as Chairman of the organization.
When the Voting Rights Act was being debated, Ben Golub traveled to Washington, DC to lobby in support of its passage.
Jane Golub, wife of our President/CEO Neil Golub, resigned from her teaching career to write a curriculum called "A World of Difference". This curriculum was embraced by NYS Department of Education and the Anti Defamation League (ADL) and facilitated the training of K-12 grade teachers throughout the State to address intolerance, bigotry and discrimination among their students.
Price Chopper initiated two-day Diversity Training Classes for managers to gain their support in taking more aggressive actions to better utilize our available workforce pools and to have our demographic profile better reflect the communities we serve. To date, over 2000 managers have been trained.
Four-hour Diversity training sessions are currently being implemented for our hourly workforce.
At Price Chopper, Diversity/Inclusion is a business imperative.
Inclusive Environment
"I am a studio photographer at Price Chopper and am hearing impaired. The company not only provided me with a computerized phone system that allows me to place and receive calls to any hearing person, they also sent my co-workers to take a sign language course so that we could communicate."
