In 1932 (that would make us 77!), Bernard and William (Ben and Bill) Golub opened the first large self-serve supermarket in northern New York. The first store morphed into a supermarket chain called Central Markets. In 1973, Central Markets became Price Chopper. Today, Price Chopper has 119 stores in six states, a reputation for innovation and customer service and a passion for creating the ultimate shopping experience.
Family Ties
Started by family in 1932, Price Chopper remains in the Golub family today, with Neil Golub serving as President and CEO and Lewis Golub serving as Chairman of the Board. Price Chopper is committed to treating each associate as a member of the family and strives to give them all the respect and empathy that such a position would afford. Price Chopper also invites members of the same family to work together and boasts many second, third and even fourth generation associates.
As the third generation prepares to carry on the tradition of being a family in business, they look forward to continuing their commitment to their associates and customers.
